AAPC Coding News

Medical coding is rapidly becoming recognized by hospitals, physicians and insurance companies as the key to accurate reimbursement, and the only way to ensure accuracy in coding to trust this specialized skill to a certified coder.  MediQuick Physician Services is a strong supporter of coding credentials and we also partner with other coding professionals through teamwork and representation in the local American Academy of Professional Coders Fort Worth chapter.

Tamra Lahmer, President and Founder of MediQuick Physician Services has served as an officer of the Fort Worth AAPC chapter for several years.  Tamra is also an AAPC Approved ICD-10 trainer as well as an approved instructor for the AAPC Professional Medical Coding Curriculum.  She provides seminars for the AAPC Fort Worth Chapter, as well as other AAPC chapters across the State of Texas and nationally for AAPC ICD-10 boot training.

AAPC certified coders carry a credential of “CPC” which stands for a Certified Professional Coder and is the gold standard of coding credentials.  Many other AAPC credentials are also available and all carry the respect of the AAPC standard of excellence in coding.

The Fort Worth AAPC Chapter meets monthly either on Tuesday evenings or Saturday mornings.  Each meeting is structured to provide education, networking and professional development.   For more information on the AAPC Fort Worth Chapter events, please refer to the local forum at

Not a member of AAPC?  You may attend as a guest for three meetings without joining, so come join us and see what this great coding profession is all about!  If you would like to visit about the coding profession in a group setting where you can ask questions and visit with other certified coders, you may want to attend a FREE Career Information Seminar hosted by Texas Career Center and offered multiple times throughout the year.  Medical coding is an exciting and growing career field!  Come ask questions, speak to other coders and learn the best route to pursue your career goals.

Certified coders are required to earn a minimum of 18 CEUs per year to continue their CPC or other credential.  MediQuick partners with AAPC to provide a variety of CEU opportunities at a member discount.  See the Texas Career Center events calendar for more information of advanced training options.  CEUs at no cost or minimal cost are also available through the AAPC Healthcare Business Monthly magazine, by attending the monthly chapter meetings or through the various governmental webinars.  For more information on low cost CEUs, access the AAPC website  for a complete listing of CEU vendors.
