Having a successful practice starts at the top with the healthcare providers.  It is in the skilled medical record documentation and understanding of the rules and regulations that govern your reimbursement that you will exercise the right to confidently expect payment for your services.  As a practice grows, and a hierarchy of staff builds, the provider must understand the importance of hiring skilled staff to oversee coding and compliance.  Seasoned providers as well as residents are all held accountable for their billing and coding practices, and although this area of your practice demands attention, the reimbursement side of a practice is not taught within the medical school curriculum.  Providers are encouraged to gain the knowledge and resources needed to maximize their reimbursement potential, and reduce the risk of noncompliant activities.
